Christmas in August again?!

Okay, I promise this is the last Christmas card for this month anyway. LOL . . . not a very good promise as the month is only a couple of days 'til it's end. I felt so guilty getting my last set of cards done for July during the month of August that this was high priority around here to get my August ones done on time. Since I have been away just about every weekend this month--that has been a tough one. Anyway, thought you might enjoy seeing this one. I just love these House Mouse stamps. I cannot remember the name of this stamp and too tired to look it up right now, but you can find it at a GREAT site that sells them the cheapest around (or at least that I know of) http://www.hmstamps.com/ Tell Dick that Kelly sent ya!
So . . . I used an image I received from my "little sis" Kelly Smith and some dp from a Christmas pack and the riveting stamp set from Stampin' Up, old olive and bravo burgundy card stock, and some grosgrain ribbon both white and silver depending on which card you look at. The card on the left has the canvas stamp in the background and Merry Christmas from the Loads of Love add-on set, also SU. So . . . let me know what you think.

Hip to be Square

Okay, you crafty people! I know this is not about scrappin' or stampin', but . . . I know how you all have a heart of gold. Shelly Tucker is looking for a few crafty hands to help her out with quilts for children dealing with cancer. This is an ongoing project through June 2008, but the sooner we can get them to her, the better . . . can you crochet some granny squares? (this is what I first learned to make as a child, so they are pretty easy). Check out Shelly's blog for more details at This Eclectic Life
Thanks for your help in advance! Kelly

Christmas in . . . August?
I finally got some stampin' time in last night. I quit one of my jobs, so I have some more free time. Down to just one full-time job now--woohoo! Although, I am sure I will miss the other paycheck.
Anyway . . . here is a Christmas card I came up with for this year. I know, I know . . . who is thinking of Christmas?! Well, if I were not in the Christmas Card Challenge for 2007 through http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ I would not be making them in late August either. I have made 10 cards every month (except one in which I made birthday and get well cards instead that month). If you do not need that many (which I really don't) you can make 10 other cards any occasion. It is a nice challenge to keep me on my toes. We just share a picture that we made them and they are all ours to do with what we want. The first person to post on the 1st day of each month wins a prize (did that January 1st since I was up that late and I was ready--hee hee--but haven't made it since then) I guess that is pretty obvious, since these were actually my July cards. I still have to make August. Oh, yeah, back to the subject . . . when we make something every month then the moderator puts our name in a drawing to win some goodies at the end too. So it's a win-win situation for you either way. You get to keep your own cards and you are in for a drawing to win more goodies. You should check it out at SCS (link above). Okay, here is my card. It is a little bit simple. I know I should have jazzed it up a little bit more with some more layering, but I don't think it is too simple. Tell me what ya think.

Slackin' in my posting . . .
I know I have not been here in a while, but I promised only weekly. I still feel I should be here more often.
I just entered in a terrific contest for blog candy at Kim's blog http://myangelinspirations.blogspot.com/2007/08/celebration-time.html She just became an Angel. Isn't that awesome? Check out her sweets! LOL I would love to order that Boyz and Girlz set even if I don't win.

Quick post for Thursday night
I have had a few questions about the ATC (artist trading card) in my banner above. It was made for a technique swap that I am in, and I used 2 stamp sets to achieve that look. One of the stamps is the SU floral background stamp (also on the green bg piece but not as noticable), which was inked well and then pressed against the heart from the SU set called Forever in my Heart. Since the two stamps are pressed together, they call this the "kissing technique." The floral part adheres to the heart and then when you stamp you get a floral heart. Pretty cool, huh?!
I really liked it, but I had to order some new stamps from the catty to keep up with the technique swap this month--as I did not have anything current to use that was a big chunky stamp--like the heart. You need a solid stamp to be able to press them together for a nice look.

Elegant or not so much?
Okay, so I need your help . . . I have been trying to get out of my comfort zone. I like to stamp images that I can watercolor and most of them seem to be House Mouse or Penny Black; therefore, I am stuck in a "cutesy" mode. Not that I don't like cutesy mind you, but I really want to be more on the "elegant" side. lol So . . . I have a swap going on at SCS for elegant ATCs. Here is my contribution . . . what do you think elegant or still cutesy? I think it is a little of both, but I need your input. You won't hurt my feelings either way, so . . . tell it like it is :) Thanks! Kel
