FCD DT? . . . not this time around :(

Last month I was working on a few card ideas that I submitted to Firecracker Designs by Pamela. Although I only have the one set from her designs (Butterflies -- Fly), I truly enjoyed looking through her gallery of stamps. There are so many terrific flowers and nature stamps that I could spend paychecks and paychecks there. Alas, I held off on ordering until I submitted my cards, and now I am trying to decide which set I would like to order. She has a special right now that you can get 4 sets for under $25. Stop by her blog and check them out!

Here are a few cards that I created last month for the design team tryout using her stamps. I wasn't allowed to show anyone until the DT was chosen. I didn't make it on the team, but I thought they were definitely good enough to show you any way. I hope you like them. I know I sure enjoyed creating them. :)
This first one is an A2 size with quite a few different layers on top. The butterflies were stamped on vellum, colored and accented with black and white gel pens. The front panel is raised up a little bit, and then the sentiment at the bottom is raised up even more. The wings of the butterflies were curled to look more 3D. The base is really rust with glorious green and black cs accents.

The second card here is a 5 x 5 card with really rust again, the same DP from Daisyhill, real stitching as well as faux stitching on this one. The real stitches are in black and the faux in white gel pen. There is a closeup of the butterfly this time. I used some iridescent white twinkling H2Os on the sun and stars in the dp, too.
This last one was a challenge from a friend, too. We were to use a big plastic tag on our cards. I stamped the butterfly in Brilliance graphite black, embossed it with clear EP, then colored it with markers in pale greens and yellows. Then I added some dazzling diamonds to give it some sparkle. The edges of the tag were colored yellow, and then I sprayed clear lacquer on it to adhere all the glitter and cololrs. The base of the card is certainly celery with barely banana and (I believe) bashful blue. The sentiment was stamped in bashful blue, and the word FLY was stamped around the bg as well. The photo corners and wide white grosgrain ribbon were also added.
Thanks for looking!

I was on the DT and I am truly surprised you did not make the team with those cards! Honestly, they are a lot prettier then many on DT.
I have that butterfly myself and have made several cards using it. I will have to share them with you.

They do have some nice nature stamps.

Kelly, your projects for the DT submissions are great! Worth sharing and more. I know the DT selection was a tough decision for Pamela after the initial job of narrowing the field from 50 to 20. Anyway, I hope you stay positive (easier said than done, I know). After I made my first DT I got rejected by about 5 companies during open calls before I made another one. I was SO sad. But make sure if you are still interested you submit again next year!!
