Quilted Paper Piecing Cocoa

I found a little time this weekend to play around with paper piecing (like you would with quilt pieces minus the sewing part - lol).  This is what I came up with from instructions from my good friend and SU demonstrator, but I didn't follow the directions too well for a sunburst originally.  I did love the pretty papers though and since I didn't want to tear them up trying to pull them back off (I tried) I figured I would just go with it and finish out the card.  Isn't that flower pretty?  It's the new petal punch flower and it's embossed with a snowflake - cool, huh?  It is also ink distressed with old olive and the sentiment is from a digi set (pansy turtle) from Doodle Pantry.

Now this was more of what I was going for though ... I believe this is the sunburst paper piecing the rest of the girls in the class did (I wasn't there and did mine from home today).  I used some of those bella scraps again and ruby red, certainly celery and barely banana along with the Cocoa's Latte digital stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy.  He is colored with prismacolor pencils and layered on an ink distressed piece of certain celery too.  I also rubbed the sponge of old olive over the barely banana piece to make the textile cb image pop out and added some seam binding.  I kept this one a little less puffy because I will be mailing him out. :)

I have played along with Sweet N Sassy's digi challenge #50 - Make It Old (distressing)  Not quite sure it looks vintage but with the quilt piecing and distressing, I hope it qualifies. :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you have found some time for a little "creative therapy" this  weekend!

Hugs,

Love both your quilted cards. Such a good idea and a great way to use scraps and make beautiful cards at the same time. Great job!
